Well, Elinor Benedict was named runner-up for the U. P. Poet Laureate. Her response when I spoke with her after the ceremony: "This is wonderful. I get all the glory and don't have to do any of the work!"
She's a wonderful lady with a great sense of humor. My introduction went very well, and Elinor seemed really pleased with the whole evening.
By the way, Russ Thorburn was named U. P. Poet Laureate. It's a two-year appointment, so, in 2015, I'll probably be introducing somebody else. Or, maybe, Elinor will win next time.
